How would you show up differently?

How would you show up differently?
How would you show up differently if you believed 100% you could do it? Whatever “it” is.
So, a few days ago I was out feeding the horses. I was late and in a hurry.  My husband was in charge of a fundraising dinner for 200 people and had been working so hard to get it set up perfectly. And I was late! I had 30 horses to feed and 18 of them needed their winter blankets on. For those of you that are not horse people, if you are in a hurry, the horses will freak out. I’m charging at horses throwing blankets at them. They’re all looking at me like “Oh great!  Crazy Margaret is back!”
So, of course one runs out the gate. Most days when he gets out he cleans up some leftover grain. Then the dogs bark and he is back in before I’m done throwing hay. But because I’m in a hurry the dogs are hyped up and end up chasing him down the driveway. So I took off after him on the 4-wheeler.  I turned sharp to cut him off before he got to the gate and got stuck in the snow!
I tried for 10 minutes to get the 4-wheeler out. Doing the whole back and forth and back and forth. The more frustrated I got the worse it got. When I was thinking things like “l don’t know what to do.” or “I’m such an idiot!” I would lose control of the 4-wheeler and get myself deeper in, almost losing the 2 wheels that were still on hard ground.
So I know that our thoughts cause our feelings. Our feelings drive our actions and our actions cause our results. And most importantly, I know that being late with 2 tires stuck in the snow is a neutral circumstance. How I think about it is what matters. And I needed to change how I has thinking! I asked myself “How would I show up differently if I believed 100% I could get the 4-wheeler out now?” I dropped into that feeling, pushed hard against the machine, revved the engine and just about threw the dang thing back on the road!
We are 100% in charge of how we show up. If I continued to think “this is too hard” I could have missed a great evening with my husband and missed sharing in his success (it really was a great evening.  He did such a wonderful job putting it all together!) If I would have slowed down and gotten ahold of my thoughts earlier I wouldn’t have scared all the horses and gotten stuck in the snow! But I am so glad I did. What a great reminder of how powerful our thoughts are. What a great reminder of how powerful we are when control our mind.
So how will you show up differently?
